CLASSES

1. JONI MITCHELL'S 4 DULCIMER SONGS: 

INTROS AND CHORD PATTERNS Level 3

FRIDAY SESSION 7  (F7)

In this 1 hour workshop, you will learn ALL 4 of the beautiful intros and basic chord patterns 

 to Joni Mitchell’s dulcimer songs from her Blue Album: 

Carey, All I Want, California and A Case of You.   

You will be playing in 3 different tunings for this workshop 

 DAA,  AAA, DAF#, so bring your tuner and a pick.

2. HOW TO COUNT RHYTHMS OUT LOUD   ALL  LEVELS WELCOME

2 HOURS   SATURDAY SESSION 4 (S4)
 

Having trouble keeping rhythm?   This style of learning rhythm comes from 

Indian Classical Music and it will help you improve your rhythm skills.  

First you learn to speak a rhythm out loud and then you play it.   

This is fun way to learn more about rhythm, improve your skills 

and give you techniques you can apply to every new song you learn.  

I used to teach this as a 1 hour class and we only spoke the rhythms. 

 However students wanted time to speak rhythms out loud

 and then put those rhythms on the dulcimer. So... 

I expanded the class to 2 hours and we will speak the rhythms out loud

 AND play them on the dulcimer.

This class welcomes all levels . 

3. THE SLAP/CHOP STRUM TECHNIQUE  Level 2

SATURDAY SESSION 7 (S7)

Rock out with this upbeat snappy rhythmic effect. 

Learn different ways to play it:  fast and percussive,  slow rock or swing.  

Apply the slap/chop technique to both chord progressions and songs. 

 Learn the strum Joni Mitchell uses on California, A Case of You and Carey. 

Jazz up traditional Appalachian tunes, pop tunes and your originals.
